You’ll need a valid driver’s license, a national ID or passport, and a credit or debit card in the renter’s name for the security deposit. International visitors may also need an International Driving Permit.

Yes, Africar offers a “Car with Driver” service for your convenience. Our professional, experienced drivers ensure a safe and comfortable journey — perfect for business trips, airport transfers, or daily rentals. You can request a driver when booking your vehicle, and rates will be calculated based on duration and distance.
Is there a mileage limit on Rwanda car rentals?
Most Africar rentals come with unlimited mileage, unless stated otherwise in your booking. Some vehicle categories or promotional rates may have mileage limits — please check your rental agreement for details.
What should I do in case of a car accident or breakdown in Rwanda?
If you return the vehicle later than the agreed time, additional hourly or daily charges may apply. We recommend contacting Africar in advance if you expect a delay — we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Stay safe and contact Africar’s 24/7 roadside assistance immediately. We’ll guide you through the process and provide help or a replacement vehicle if needed. Always report any accident to the local authorities and obtain a police report.
What is your fuel policy?
Africar operates on a “Full to Full” fuel policy — the car is delivered with a full tank and should be returned the same way. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, a refueling charge will apply.
Can I add an additional driver to my rental?
Yes! You can add one or more additional drivers. Each driver must present a valid driver’s license and meet Africar’s age and eligibility requirements. A small additional fee may apply.
